Yunxin Tang

Laser Scientist

Yunxin Tang gained a BSc degree in the Electronic Physics and Lasers in 1983, and MSc degree in the Electronic Physics and Devices in 1986 at the Tsinghua University, China. He was awarded a degree of PhD in Physics at the Heriot-Watt university in 1998. Yunxin then worked on the TE/TEA CO2 lasers until 2001. From 2001 to 2003, he worked on the quantum control of semiconductor devices using ultra-fast fs titanium-doped sapphire (Ti:S) lasers in the Cavendish lab at Cambridge University. Yunxin joined the CLF in 2003, working on various projects including the 5fs OPCPA system for attosecond generation and the Vulcan 10PW OPCPA project (Phase I). Since 2009, he has been part of the Gemini Group, working on the petawatt Ti:S laser system.
