The initiative brings together 18 universities and research laboratories and 7 industrial partners from 10 different countries. The CLF is contributing to PACRI’s plasma accelerator research activities and is leading the development of next‑generation high peak and average power laser systems.
The Plasma Accelerator systems for Compact Research Infrastructures (PACRI) collaboration is a €10 million, four‑year project (launched in March 2025) funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe programme.
PACRI aims to develop next‑generation, ultra‑compact and energy‑efficient plasma‑based accelerators that will support a wide range of industrial, medical and scientific applications. Potential uses of this technology include high‑resolution medical and industrial imaging, radiation and hadron therapy, structural biology, materials diagnostics and the development of future compact particle colliders.
