The EU co-funded project Lasers4EU was launched in October 2024, and brings together leading laser research institutions across Europe, offering a central platform with unprecedented access to cutting-edge laser technologies and services for external scientists from academia and industry. Beyond transnational access, this successor of the EU-funded initiative Laserlab-Europe V provides comprehensive training opportunities, equipping users with both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in laser technologies and applications. Lasers4EU’s extensive network spans 27 access provider infrastructures, along with the consortiums of Laserlab-Europe AISBL and ELI ERIC, with all their members being associate partners.
The success of the Laserlab-Europe initiative had such a resonance worldwide that it led to the founding of LaserNetUS in the USA.
The CLF is a founding member of the European Commission’s Laserlab-Europe AISBL, an international not-for-profit association, which brings together 48 leading organisations in laser-based inter-disciplinary research from 22 countries.
The CLF sits on the Management, Networking and Industrial Boards, participates in joint research activities, and provides training through the networking programmes. It is also very active in providing the agreed level of access to its facilities, including target fabrication. Professor John Collier, Director of the CLF, is also Executive Director of Laserlab-Europe AISBL.
